Family members of Edmonton man who died in the city’s northeast Saturday morning are shocked and saddened by the news.
Edmonton police said a man in his 60s was found injured near a bus shelter in the area of 118 Avenue and 42 Street at around 4 a.m.

Pedestrians found the man around 4 a.m. Saturday and called 911. The man was treated by EMS and taken to hospital where he died.
Investigators believe that an altercation between the man and another person took place shortly before his death. Investigators are treating the death as suspicious.
The victim’s family told Global News they don’t want his identity released but said he was 68-years-old and an Edmonton resident. The victim’s step-daughter said the family is stunned by the manner of death.
“It was a shock because he was such a nice guy and he loved people. He was very outgoing and just had his life taken away so fast,” she said.

Anyone with dash-cam footage from vehicles that were parked in the area or drove by between 3:30 a.m. and 5 a.m. are asked to contact Edmonton police.
“The family and his friends and loved ones, we just want answers, we want to know why,” the victim’s step-daughter said.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Tuesday.
