Police investigate Friday morning shooting in southeast Calgary

Calgary police say one person was injured in a shooting in the city’s southeast on Friday morning. Matthew Conrod has details from the scene. – Aug 7, 2020

Calgary police are investigating a shooting that happened in the community of Lynnwood on Friday.

Officers were called to a house in the 6200 block of 18A Street Southeast at around 4 a.m. for reports of a gunshot fired inside the home.

One person from the home was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, police say.

Investigators believe the shooting was targeted.

Later on in the morning, police were called to a second shooting in the community of Capitol Hill.

Police said officers responded to the 1500 block of 23 Avenue Northwest at around 6 a.m.

Witnesses told police two groups of people were arguing in the street when multiple shots were fired.

No injuries were reported and no suspects were at the scene when police arrived.

It’s not known if the shootings could possibly be related.
