The fire broke out early Thursday morning at the home on 125B Street near Old Yale Road.

The deceased couple, a man and a woman, are seniors and were found inside the home.

Neighbour Jora Cheema tried to save the couple but could not get inside.

Crews were called at approximately 4:20 a.m. but arrived to find the home fully engulfed.

Eleven fire trucks and 34 firefighters responded to the call. Crews on scene told Global News they had a difficult time accessing the home because there was debris outside and inside.

“They gave a lot of donations to a lot of different houses, a lot of recovery societies,” Cheema told Global News. “People in need of food. He [the male victim] had a good heart.”
