EDMONTON – A crash in Strathcona County claimed the lives of two teen brothers, Monday afternoon.
The boys have been identified as 17-year-old Dalin Torresan and 14-year-old Logan Torresan, both of rural Strathcona County.
The two were travelling northbound on Range Road 213 around noon. Witnesses tell police that their sedan stopped at a stop sign at the Highway 16 intersection, then pulled out into the eastbound lanes, where their vehicle was struck by a pick-up truck.

The driver and lone occupant of the truck, a 54-year-old man from Willingdon, Alberta, was taken to hospital with serious but non life-threatening injuries.
Motorists in the area have been told to expect delays for the next couple hours, as the eastbound lanes of Highway 16 at Range Road 213 have been reduced to one lane as RCMP continue to investigate the crash.
So far, their investigation has found that alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors in the collision. RCMP believe the driver of the sedan failed to proceed safely after stopping at the stop sign.
Cst. Wally Henry with Strathcona County RCMP says the fatal crash serves as an important reminder.
“Whether it’s a rural stop sign like this, entering a major highway, or whether it’s a stop sign in a residential area where traffic is going at a slower speed. It just serves as a reminder for us all that we need to stop at stop signs and make sure we’re paying attention when we pull out into traffic.”
