Emergency crews were called to a plaza near the intersection of Jane Street and Woolner Avenue, north of St. Clair Avenue West, at around 10:20 p.m.

Toronto Police Insp. Norm Proctor told reporters a small grey or silver sedan came to Woolner Avenue just before the shots were fired.

“Two individuals in that vehicle — passenger’s side and driver’s side — were indiscriminately shooting at individuals who were enjoying this evening,” he said, noting the vehicle travelled east along Woolner Avenue.

“It’s completely reckless. These individuals with no regard for human life just took it upon themselves to shoot out of their vehicle at anybody who was in that area.”

A Toronto Paramedics spokesperson told Global News a woman and a man had serious injuries. The spokesperson said a second man sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

A Toronto police spokesperson later said one of the victims’ conditions — a 21-year-old man — was downgraded to life-threatening.

Proctor said two victims made their own way to a local hospital for treatment.

He said officers were canvassing the areas and were looking to speak with witnesses and gather video. Proctor added several people near the intersection at the time of the shooting left.

Anyone with information was asked to call police at 416-808-1200.
