The Vancouver Canucks will host the Ottawa Senators in the 2014 Heritage Classic.

The NHL made the announcement today about the game scheduled for March 2, 2014 at BC Place.

“Canucks Sports & Entertainment is proud to bring the 2014 Tim Hortons NHL Heritage Classic to Vancouver to share this marquee event with our fans,” said Mike Gillis, President and General Manager, Canucks Sports & Entertainment.

“This game  allows our sport to further celebrate the history of the game while doing so in a unique venue.”

Usually the Canucks play at Rogers Arena, which typically holds 18,000 spectators. BC Place can accommodate 59.800.

It will be first time an NHL team has hosted a game in a facility with a retractable roof.

Heritage Classics are normally played outside at CFL stadiums.
