A Sunday fire has destroyed the Good Fortune Kitchen in Balgonie, Sask.
“It’s a total loss to the restaurant,” said Doug Lapchuk, deputy fire chief for the Town of Balgonie.
The Balgonie Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene just before noon to a report of a fire on the 100 block of Griffin Road.
Over 30 firefighters from the area helped combat the blaze.
The Pilot Butte Volunteer Fire Department and the White City Volunteer Fire Department both provided resources, personnel and equipment to contain the fire.
“We do not believe it was anything other than an accidental fire,” Lapchuk said.
Although the fire has not been deemed suspicious, the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The restaurant – which is located on the former site of the Balgonie Diner – will be torn down Sunday evening. Residents are asked to avoid the area until emergency personnel have cleared the scene.
No injuries were reported.
