A 46-year-old man was sent to hospital early Monday morning after a two-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle on Upper James Street, according to Hamilton police.
Officers closed off Upper James Street from Twenty Road to Christopher Drive around 6:30 a.m. upon arriving at the scene of the crash.
Investigators say the 2014 Yamaha motorcycle and a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe SUV collided at Upper James Street south of Alderlea Avenue when Hyundai – travelling north on Upper James Street – made a left turn into a commercial driveway and hit the southbound cycle.
The injured motorcycle rider, from Waterford, was sent to hospital with serious injuries, police say. The driver of the Hyundai was not injured.
A stretch of Upper James Street was closed for hours as a collision reconstruction unit investigated, according to police.
Detectives have ruled out alcohol, drugs and speed as contributing factors to the collision.
