Grass fire in Fort Langley sparked by farmer harvesting hay

A farmer was harvesting hay in his field at 8920 Hudson Bay Road in Fort Langley on Saturday afternoon when a spark started a large grass fire.

Three to four acres of grass were on fire, and it took seven tankers from seven different fire stations to put it out.

Assistant Fire Chief Pat Walker said it took an hour and a half to put out as there are no hydrants in that area.

Due to the location there was no immediate danger of to any structures but fire crews stopped it from jumping into the adjacent fields.
