Saskatoon police investigating weapons call on Broadway Ave.

Saskatoon police are asking people to avoid the area and have shut down 19th Street East between 3rd Avenue and 4th Avenue. File / Global News

Saskatoon police are currently investigating a weapons call at 1st Street and Broadway Avenue.

According to a statement, officers were called to the area shortly before 5:30 p.m. and the weapon is not a firearm.

More than a dozen police vehicles and two fire trucks were in the area.

Some police were wearing riot gear.
