A 26-year-old man is dead after a police-involved shooting in Brampton‘s west end Monday afternoon.

A Peel Regional Police spokesperson said officers were called to a home on Sawston Circle, north of Chinguacousy Road and Bovaird Drive West, just after 5:20 p.m. with reports of a domestic incident.

The spokesperson said police went into the home and there was an “encounter” between residents.

Ontario’s police watchdog, the Special Investigations Unit (SIU), issued a statement to say two officers used their Tasers on the man. The statement said an officer subsequently shot multiple times and the man was hit.

A Peel Paramedics spokesperson posted on Twitter that the patient was being treated for life-threatening injuries. But the police spokesperson said the man died in the home.

The specific circumstances leading up to the shooting were still unclear as of Monday night.
