With four different teachers’ unions holding rotating strikes, many parents are being left without child care.
On Friday Feb. 21, all of the unions will be walking off the job at once, which will create a log jam of people looking for space for their kids.
These strikes will only occur if the unions are unable to come to an agreement with the provincial government by then.
Pop-up camps are being offered across the region in an effort to provide a place for kids to go on strike days.
The camps at YMCA, THEMUSEUM and the City of Kitchener’s Lions Camp are all full but there are other options still available (as of Monday afternoon).
We have scoured the internet to see what places in the region still have spaces open on Friday.
The City of Waterloo is offering day camps for younger kids as well as special interest ones for older kids.
The camp offerings include one with Lego/stop animation, another for babysitter training and a third which will focus on stemotics.
The City of Cambridge will be hosting camps at the John Dolson and W.G. Johnson centres.

Similar to previous strike days, Bingemans in Kitchener will be holding a camp which will offer the use of the FunworX facility, with the addition of bowling, ropes course, arts and crafts, games, outdoor time (weather dependent).
Artshine if offering cams at four different locations including Forest Hill United Church, at its head office on Gaukel Street, the Wilmot Recreation Complex and Parkminster United Church in Waterloo.
The camps cost $48 and run from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Mindful Makers is also running a camp at the Cedars Worship Centre in Waterloo.
The camp is for kids aged 7-14 at a cost of $75.

The camp is for kids aged 7-12 and costs $45 with free before and aftercare.
