CALGARY – A 76-year-old man is recovering in hospital after being injured in a hit and run, Wednesday evening.
The crash happened around 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of 17 Avenue S.W and 9th Street S.W.
Police say the senior was trying to get into his parked car when he was hit by a pickup truck.
He was left lying in the street and bystanders rushed to help as the truck sped away.
The victim was rushed to hospital in life-threatening condition, where he underwent surgery.
Police are still searching for the pickup truck.
It’s described as a large, black pickup truck, with damage to the right, frontend, was travelling westbound and fled the scene.
Investigators don’t know if the driver was a man or woman.
