OPP identify human remains found in Tillsonburg as missing Brownsville man

Provincial police in Oxford County have identified human remains located Tuesday in Tillsonburg, Ont. as those of a 42-year-old Brownsville, Ont. man who had been reported missing in September.

According to police, officers responded to reports of human remains found on Mall Road in the town, located southeast of London, Ont., around 5 p.m.

On Thursday, police identified the deceased as James Edward Blakley, 42, of Brownsville, Ont.

Blakley had been reported missing on Sept. 10, 2019, and was last seen on the afternoon of Aug. 30, 2019 getting into a taxi bound for the Tillsonburg-area, police said in a media release at the time.

Police had said as late as November that the circumstances surrounding Blakley’s disappearance were being investigated as suspicious. On Thursday, police said they had deemed the circumstances surrounding his death as non-suspicious in nature.

Members of Oxford OPP and the force’s forensic identification services responded to the scene to investigate.
