Suspect arrested after man suffers life-threatening stab wounds in Dartmouth

A 29-year-old man has been taking into custody after a man was sent to hospital with life-threatening stab wounds in Dartmouth on Wednesday.

Halifax Regional Police say they responded to an apartment on Roleika Drive at around 8:15 a.m. after receiving an injured person report.

Officers arrived to find a man had been stabbed inside the apartment.

Police believe the incident is connected to a string of incidents in Dartmouth Tuesday night.

Police say they received a report at 6 p.m. of a man with what appeared to be blood on his clothing walking on Caledonia Road in Dartmouth.

A short time later, police say they received a report of an attempted robbery at the Dairty Queen on Main Street, where a man entered the restaurant with a knife and demanded cash.

He left the business empty handed.

Officers say that attempted robbery was closely followed by a report of a theft at the Sobeys store at 60 Tacoma Drive.

The suspect was arrested at 6:15 p.m. on Tacoma Drive. He was transported to police headquarters on Gottingen Street and was held in custody.

“The suspect is believed to be the same man arrested for previous night’s incidents,” police stated in a news release. “At this point in the investigation, police believe the suspect and the victim are known to one another.”

Anyone with information on the stabbing is asked to contact Halifax Regional Police or Crime Stoppers.
