Edmonton will play host to the 7th annual Hockey Canada Foundation gala and golf tournament this June.
It was announced Tuesday that the City of Champions will be the host of the event which celebrates the on-ice achievements of the Canadian national teams.
This year’s event is even more highly anticipated than usual because of the great success the Canadian men’s and women’s hockey teams had at the 2010 Olympic games.
The gala will be held at Edmonton’s Marriott at River Cree Resort and Casino on June 28, and will feature members from the olympic teams and other celebrates, as well as Pierre McGuire and Gord Miller being the masters of ceremony.
Both Blackhawk Golf Course and Edmonton Petroleum Golf and Country Club will host the celebrity tournament on June 29, with each foursome including a celebrity.
The majority of the funds that will be raised will go to support an outdoor skating facility at TELUS Field. This project will be a partnership between the Hockey Canada Foundation, the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation and the City of Edmonton.
