Residential customers would have a larger average increase at 4.1 per cent and 2.4 per cent, varying on the amount of gas used.

SaskEnergy says it needs the increase because it faces higher costs for completing new customer connections and meeting higher standards for pipeline safety.

Consumers can make comments about the proposed rate hikes at public hearings, Facebook or online through the rate review website.
