Three vehicles collided at the corner of Bay and College streets at around 3:20 p.m. on Thursday, after four pedestrians were struck by one of the vehicles.

Toronto paramedics transported a 69-year-old woman to a trauma centre in critical condition, and police said her condition has since stabilized. Two others — a 54-year-old female pedestrian and a 24-year-old female driver — were taken to hospital in serious condition.

Toronto police said a one-year-old girl, another pedestrian and another driver had minor injuries.

A vehicle allegedly drove through a red light, striking four pedestrians in a crosswalk and dragging two of them into the intersection, police said.

“That vehicle continued north and struck two vehicles that were travelling west on College Street,” Sgt. Brett Moore told reporters Thursday evening.

Uber Canada confirmed the driver of a black SUV involved in the crash was a member of the ride-sharing platform. A spokesperson said the driver’s access privileges to the Uber app have been removed.

“We extend our thoughts to all those involved in this incident. We stand ready to assist authorities and will provide any information to them for their investigation,” an Uber Canada spokesperson told Global News in a written statement.

The spokesperson would not say if the driver of the vehicle was on duty at the time and if there were any Uber passengers in the vehicle.

Officers closed the intersection to traffic as investigators gathered evidence. Toronto police said roads were reopened at around 7:30 p.m.

As of Thursday evening, police said charges weren’t laid against any of the drivers but that the investigation is ongoing.
