Police in Fredericton say four people were taken into custody on Wednesday after police blocked off several streets during a weapons call.
The Fredericton Police Force says they received a call at 9:30 a.m. of a man brandishing a firearm in the Main Street area.
The investigation led police to a multi-unit building on Hawkins Street, where they believed the man was living.
Roads in the area of Edgewood Drive, Kingsley Court, Hawkins Street and Brookside Drive were blocked off for several hours as a result.
No lockdowns were put in place, but the building was evacuated as a precaution and police asked the public to avoid the area.
In a different social media post around 3:30 p.m., police said they were wrapping up their investigation and there is “no further threat to the public.”
Police say they eventually made contact with the people inside the apartment and the individuals exited the building.
Two people were questioned and released, according to police, while two men and one woman were arrested.
Police say all five were known to them.
The person of interest was arrested at a different location around 3:45 p.m.
All four are scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
