2 men shot, 1 in life-threatening condition, after daylight shooting in North York

Two men were shot and one is in life-threatening condition after a brazen daylight shooting in North York Wednesday afternoon.

Emergency services responded to a call at Rochefort Drive and Don Mills Road, near Eglinton Avenue just after 3:30 p.m.

Toronto police initially said they located one victim with gunshot wounds but later said another victim was found.

Paramedics rushed the first man to a trauma centre in life-threatening condition.

Police said the other man was transported to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police are searching the area and said a vehicle with bullet holes was located.

The incident comes after a violent long weekend in the city which saw 17 people shot.

Toronto Police Chief Mark Saunders spoke to reporters at the scene Wednesday evening and said the incident appears to be targeted and has the characteristics of gang activity.

Saunders said the vehicle was shot at by two suspects wearing masks. He said the suspects opened fire, got into a vehicle and fled the scene.
