Saskatchewan serves up new liquor rules for movie theatres, golf courses

REGINA – Movie theatres in Saskatchewan can now apply for a permit to sell alcohol.

Donna Harpauer, minister responsible for the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority, says she has already spoken with one movie chain that is interested.

Thirty-nine of 77 new liquor regulations the government announced last fall are now in effect.

The new rules also allow golf courses to determine how many alcohol carts or kiosks they have on a golf course, instead of being restricted to one cart or kiosk per nine holes.

Harpauer says regulations need to be done before the rest of the changes are implemented later this summer.

A change allowing liquor to be served at strip-tease venues – as long as there is no full-frontal nudity – is not yet one of the rules that has come into effect.
