Damage is estimated at over $1-million after two west Lethbridge homes were ravaged by fire on Sunday afternoon.
Fire crews responded around 12:30pm to the blaze at a home on Canyonview Landing West.
Officials say strong winds fueled the fire, which quickly spread the flames to a neighbouring house.
No one was injured. Neighbours scrambled to relocate vehicles parked closed to the homes.
Over 20 firefighters were on scene, but they were unable to prevent extensive damage.
“When crews arrived, the buildings were extensively engulfed in fire,” said platoon chief Greg Kveder of Lethbridge Fire & EMS. “We quickly went into a defensive mode once we determined there were no occupants in the buildings.
Neighbours told Global News one of the homeowners had only moved in a couple of weeks ago.
Fire officials say a cause is still unknown as they continue to investigate.
