TORONTO – Reddit has released a geographical breakdown of visits to the social networking site by city to show what cities are the most Reddit-obsessed in the world.
As it turns out, Canadians are some of the most obsessed Redditors.
Reddit used Google analytics over a 12-month period to see what city’s subreddits were the most visited and most active. It released the list ahead of Global Reddit Meetup Day on June 15, organized to bring Reddit users together in their cities to meet face to face.
Toronto, whose subreddit is /r/Toronto, placed second on the top cities by total visits list.
Calgary placed second on the “Top ten cities – page views per capita” category, followed by Edmonton in third place, Toronto in fourth and Vancouver in fifth.
Toronto users were the most prevalent in the data, being mentioned in three of the seven categories. The capital city also placed second in the “Top local subreddits by average users online in the last 24 hours” category.
Montreal also received a special mention, tying with Stockholm for the top non-English-speaking city.
In April, Reddit had over 69 million unique visitors.
