GTA weekend weather a welcome relief with plenty of outdoor fun

TORONTO – We can all breathe easy in the GTA: the spring weather is set to last into the weekend.

It’ll all be sunshine and warmth as temperatures are expected to hover around 20 degrees across the area.

And there are plenty of ways to enjoy the marvellous weather. The Toronto Marathon takes place on Sunday beginning at Queen’s Park. And it’ll be a great weekend to take in a ball game, as the Blue Jays take on the Seattle Mariners at the Rogers Centre. If you’d like to hear male toads looking for that perfect someone, the Toronto Zoo has its 14th annual Adopt-a-Pond Spring Toad Festival where you can enjoy the sights and sounds of the courting males.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

Outside of the city, Canada’s Wonderland opens on Sunday and the Kortright Centre for Conservation is hosting the Four Winds Kite Festival in Woodbridge. Durham Region has Hip Hop in the Park for youth on Saturday where there will be a DJ, skateboarding competition and graffiti demonstrations at the Diana, Princess of Wales Park in Pickering.
