‘Y&R’ dominates Daytime Emmy nominations

TORONTO — Global’s daytime drama The Young and the Restless leads the nominees for Daytime Emmy Awards with 23, it was announced Wednesday.

It will be challenged for Outstanding Drama Series by Days of Our Lives (also on Global), General Hospital, One Life to Live and The Bold and the Beautiful.

The Talk, which airs on Global, received several nominations including Outstanding Talk Show, Directing in a Talk Show, Achievement in Hairstyling and in Make-up.

Giada at Home, which airs on Food Network Canada, is up for Outstanding Culinary Program and Outstanding Directing in a Culinary Program. Giada De Laurentiis is also up for Outstanding Culinary Host.

The 40th Daytime Emmy Awards will be handed out June 16.

A lifetime achievement award will be presented to Winnipeg-born Let’s Make a Deal host Monty Hall.
