Case of Merritt cowboy missing since January deemed suspicious by RCMP

The case of a missing cowboy near Merritt is now considered suspicious, RCMP say.

Ben Tyner was reported missing on January 28 when his riderless horse was discovered on a logging road off Highway 97.

A major search was launched but Tyner was never found.

The B.C. RCMP Southeast District’s Major Crime Unit (SED MCU) was called to assist in the investigation last month. RCMP later asked the public for dashcam video in the hopes it may lead to his discovery.

Investigators now say they believe the circumstances around Tyner’s disappearance may involve criminality.

RCMP are appealing to the public for more information.
