Durham police say one of the force’s civilian employees has been charged with theft and suspended from duty.
Police say Anna Newman, 51, was arrested Tuesday and suspended with pay pending the outcome of the case.
They say Newman, who has been with the force for 27 years, works at the front desk of the Central West division in Whitby.
It’s alleged she stole a purse that had been turned in.
