One of 18 of Canadians who died in the Ethiopian Airlines crash on Sunday was a teacher from the Hamilton-area.
The Grand Erie District School Board expressed “great sadness” at the death of Hagersville Secondary School’s Dawn Tanner.
The board said the 47-year-old Special Education department head “touched the lives of many during her career as an educator.”

Cody French, one of Tanner’s sons, has penned a Facebook tribute to his mother calling her an ‘extraordinary woman’ and the ‘strongest person I have ever known.’
Flags have been lowered in Tanner’s honour at Grand Erie District School Board buildings and councillors will be at Hagersville Secondary School next week when classes resume following March Break.
