A 90-year-old man is dead after being struck by a vehicle in a McDonald’s drive-thru Tuesday morning.

Toronto police said emergency crews were called to Steeles Avenue West and Bathurst Street at around 9:40 a.m. for reports of a man struck on private property.

Sgt. Alex Crews of Traffic Services told Global News a 47-year-old man driving a pickup truck made a right turn out of the McDonald’s drive-thru and struck the elderly man, who was walking through the parking lot at the time of the incident.

Officers said the driver involved remained on scene and attempted to give the man first aid.

Crews said the victim suffered a head injury and died on scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
