The Saskatoon SPCA is looking to expand its space and extend its lease and pound agreement with the city.
A report before a City of Saskatoon committee on Monday outlined the expansion to create a new clinic.
It would include new areas for animal drop-offs, dental and x-ray work, and a preparation and surgery area.

The report said the new clinic would give the SPCA the capability to provide high-volume spay and neuter services.
The SPCA would pay for the renovations at a cost of $659,000.
The building and land are currently owned by the city and leased to the SPCA for $1,000 a year under the terms of a five-year lease that expired on Dec. 31, 2018.
The SPCA is responsible for operations, custodial services, utilities, and taxes.
City administration is recommending the lease be renewed for a five-year term and combined with the pound services agreement.
There would also be the option for the new agreement to be renewed for four additional five-year terms.
The committee unanimously backed the proposal and has sent it on to city council for approval.
