Authorities say there was a significant amount of damage to the business.

This is the second time in less than a month that a FreshCo in Waterloo region has experienced an alleged theft.

In February, one man allegedly waved a gun at two people inside a FreshCo store near Weber Street East and Franklin Street North at around 2:30 a.m. The suspects in that case then allegedly hooked the ATM to the back of a red GMC pickup truck and pulled it out of the store, according to police.

Police said the suspects later threw the ATM into the back of the truck and drove off.

“At this point, it is too early to say whether the robberies are connected or not,” said Waterloo Regional Police Const. Andre Johnson.

Police are asking anyone with information to call 519-570-9777 ext. 8255 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
