A woman is dead in Texas after police say a “large rock” was tossed over an overpass this past weekend and crashed into the windshield of a vehicle.
Keila Ruby Flores was in the car’s passenger seat when the vehicle, travelling northbound on Interstate 35, was hit by a rock from the railroad track above.
The rock broke through the windshield and struck Flores in her seat, which police say caused “significant injuries.”

“It happened so quick, literally, like the windshield just exploded,” Flores’ boyfriend Christopher Rodriguez told NBC-affiliate KCEN.
Flores’ three children and Rodriguez were also in the car when it was struck but were not injured.
Rodriguez said he began CPR with the assistance of a stranger who stopped to help until emergency officials arrived.

In a police release, authorities say she was transported to Baylor Scott and White Hospital, where she died Sunday morning from her injuries.
Police in Temple, Texas, said it’s the first time this type of incident has happened in the community.
“We really need to bring this person to justice so that we can show that we’re not going to tolerate things like this happening in the future,” said police spokesperson Shawana Neely.

Authorities said there is currently no suspect information, however they said that when caught, the person would be charged with murder.
Rodriguez said regardless of whether the suspect is caught, the impact will be lasting.
“She was a joy of life and to take that away from her kids, her family and friends … I don’t want nobody in the world to go through this pain,” he said.
Rodriguez and the entire family have asked for the public’s help in finding the person or people responsible, CBS News reports.
