‘You look like a prince on the outside’: New trailer shows ‘Aladdin’ and Genie’s friendship

Disney is offering another glimpse into the upcoming Aladdin film with their second full-length trailer, which premiered on March 12 on Good Morning America.

“You look like a prince on the outside, but I didn’t change anything on the inside,” Smith’s Genie tells Aladdin in the trailer.

The newest trailer focuses on the relationship between Aladdin and Genie.

The first Aladdin trailer became the factor behind many memes because fans were very concerned with Will Smith’s Genie.

The new trailer also features musical favourites from the 1992 original film, including Friend Like Me and A Whole New World.

Mena Massoud, who plays Aladdin in the live-action movie, took to Twitter to share the trailer.

“Still pinch myself sometimes at the idea of playing this iconic character. His journey in this film is only something I could have dreamed of playing with. This trailer is only a sliver of the adventures you’ll see this May. Get ready for a whole new world. # Aladdin,” Massoud wrote.

Disney also released the new poster for Aladdin.

The first full-length trailer featured the blue Smith shown at the end with Aladdin entering the cave to retrieve the magical lamp in which the Genie resides.

The official synopsis for Aladdin reads: A thrilling and vibrant live-action adaptation of Disney’s animated classic, Aladdin is the exciting tale of the charming street rat Aladdin, the courageous and self-determined Princess Jasmine and the Genie who may be the key to their future.

Directed by Guy Ritchie, who brings his singular flair for fast-paced, visceral action to the fictitious port city of Agrabah, Aladdin is written by John August and Ritchie based on Disney’s Aladdin.

The film stars Will Smith as the Genie; Mena Massoud as Aladdin; Naomi Scott as Jasmine; Marwan Kenzari as Jafar; Navid Negahban as the Sultan; Nasim Pedrad as Dalia; Billy Magnussen as Prince Anders; and Numan Acar as Hakim.

Aladdin hits theatres on May 24, 2019.
