Scores of parking meters vandalized in Kelowna

Around 300 parking meters in Kelowna’s downtown core were damaged earlier in the week, according to police.

Kelowna RCMP say the damage and theft of change from the parking meters took place between the evening hours of Sunday, March 3 and the early hours of Monday, March 4.

Police added that the unknown suspect, or suspects, caused damage to upwards of 300 parking meters in the downtown core. The affected meters were located along the 400 and 500 blocks of Leon Avenue; the 400 to 600 blocks of Lawrence Avenue; the 1300 block of Ellis Street; the 1200 and 1300 blocks of Water Street; the 300 block of Smith Street; the 300 block of Cawston Avenue; and 1400 to 1600 blocks of Bertram Street.

“RCMP continue to investigate and ask businesses in the area to conduct a review of their video surveillance systems and contact police if they have any images of the person or persons responsible,” said Kelowna RCMP Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey.
