Nolan Maier won a goaltenders duel as the Saskatoon Blades blanked the Red Deer Rebels 1-0 in Western Hockey League (WHL) action on Sunday.

Maier made 17 saves for Saskatoon (41-14-8-0), including 12 in the first period, to pick up his second-straight shutout and fourth of the season.

The Rebels did not have a shot on goal in the third period.

Cyle McNabb was the only Blade to find the back of the net, scoring at the 6:37 mark of the second period.

Ethan Anders stopped 32 shots for Red Deer (31-25-4-2).

The Blades are back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Moose Jaw on Tuesday to take on the Warriors.

A win by Saskatoon will guarantee home ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs.
