SASKATOON – A former First Nations leader is the new chancellor at the University of Saskatchewan.
Blaine Favel was appointed the university’s 14th chancellor last week.
Favel is a former Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations (FSIN).

During his time at FSIN, he helped build the First Nations Bank of Canada and SIGA.
Favel is the current CEO and president of Calgary based One Earth Oil and Gas.

He is a graduate of the U of S, receiving his education degree in 1987. He went on to finish a law degree and a master’s of business administration degree at Harvard.
Favel takes over as chancellor on July 1 for a three-year term.
