A Peterborough man has been arrested and charged following an alleged assault outside a downtown bar on Saturday.
Peterborough Police Service say during the early morning hours, the victim was standing outside a bar speaking with friends when the accused allegedly became aggressive, “purposefully interrupting the victim’s conversation with a friend.”
The accused and the victim are not known to each other, police said.
Police say the accused then allegedly came up from behind the victim and punched him in the head.
“The victim was rendered unconscious and was transported to hospital for treatment,” police stated.
The victim was later released and continues to recover at home, police said.
Anthony Moon, 20, of Hunter Street, was charged with assault causing bodily harm.
He is scheduled to appear in court on March 20.
