Guelph police say two men from Cambridge were airlifted to hospital following a crash in the city’s south end on Thursday afternoon.
A pickup truck and a car collided on Victoria Road South just south of Clair Road at around 3:20 p.m.
Police said a 28-year-old man was driving south in a Nissan Sentra and 54-year-old man in GMC Canyon was driving southbound when the two vehicle collided.
Both were taken to a local hospital with serious injuries and later airlifted to a trauma unit in Hamilton.
No one else was in either vehicle, according to police.
Speaking to reporters at the scene, Const. Mike Gatto said it’s too early to say what caused the collision.
“What I’ve been told is that road conditions did not play a factor,” said Gatto.
The speed limit on that stretch of road is 70 km/h.
Both vehicles suffered severe damage and ended up on either side of the road.
Police closed Victoria Road from Clair Road to Maltby Road, and traffic was diverted away from the scene through the afternoon rush hour.
