One person was taken to hospital with severe burns after his roommate allegedly poured boiled chicken broth on him on Wednesday night.
Paramedics and police were called to a residence on Rubidge Street around 8 p.m. for reports of the assault. It was reported the victim suffered burns to more than half of his back.
He was transported to hospital and police were seen following the ambulance.
On Thursday morning, police said the accused had answered an ad for a room to rent on Tuesday and moved into the victim’s residence. They got into a verbal argument over household issues on Wednesday night.
“It is alleged that the accused attacked the victim, striking him in the face and got on top of him,” police stated. “The victim broke free and attempted to leave the residence. The accused allegedly grabbed a pot of boiling chicken broth off of the stove and threw its contents over the victim. ”
Police say the victim suffered second-degree burns.
Ryan Rue, 43, of no fixed address was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon and assault causing bodily harm.
He is to appear in court on March 14.
