A charge of sexual assault against well-known Calgary chef Michael Noble has been stayed, according to his lawyer.
The Calgary restauranteur was charged on May 3, 2018, with sexually assaulting an employee. The woman at the centre of the allegation claimed Noble followed her into a bathroom and assaulted her on Jan. 30, 2018.
“The Crown determined that this case no longer met the prosecution standard of ‘reasonable likelihood of conviction,’” the Crown said in a statement provided to Global News on Friday. “And accordingly, the Crown entered a stay of proceedings on Feb. 13, 2019.”
The alleged victim initially filed a civil restraining order against Noble but it was dropped the day cross-examination was set to take place.
