Police said a woman had just parked her vehicle in her driveway in the 9900 block of Maplecreek Drive S.E. at about 3 a.m. when it was immediately blocked in by a white GMC pickup truck.

Three men reportedly got out of the pickup, assaulted the woman, took the keys from her vehicle and broke into her home.

One of the suspects was allegedly holding the woman at gunpoint while the other two rifled through her home, stealing electronics and money.

When they left the home, they stole the woman’s green 2000 Nissan Pathfinder, police said.

The woman called police once they had left and was treated for minor injuries.

Hours later, at about 8:30 a.m., patrol officers recognized a vehicle driving erratically near the intersection of Memorial Drive and 28 Street S.E. as the stolen Nissan Pathfinder. Officers followed it until it crashed into a concrete barrier on the Reconciliation Bridge, rendering it inoperable.

A woman in her early 20s, who police said was the driver and lone occupant, was arrested at the scene and has charges pending against her. Police didn’t know Wednesday afternoon how the woman ended up behind the wheel of the stolen vehicle or where the men went in the time between the robbery and the crash.

Investigators don’t believe the woman was directly involved with the violent armed robbery, however, her connection to the three suspects involved in the robbery is still under investigation.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact police at 403-266-1234 or to contact Crime Stoppers.
