All-female K-Pop quartet Blackpink, has just announced its debut North American tour. The ‘In Your Area’ tour will see the girls play eight shows through Canada and the U.S.
Although already an established K-Pop group in the likes of Asia, Blackpink are considered up-and-comers in the Western world.
But that doesn’t mean demand was low. After months of pleading for a world tour, many fans are delighted to hear of the news, with some going nuts with excitement via social media.
The news was revealed after an exclusive live performance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Monday night.
After two slots at California’s iconic Coachella festival, Blackpink will make its Canadian debut on April 27 at the FirstOntario Centre in Hamilton, Ont.

#InYourArea and #Blackpink quickly became trending Twitter topics. The group debuted more than two years ago thanks to South Korea’s YG Entertainment company.
Other than BTS, they’re one of the few Korean pop sensations making their way into the American mainstream.
Blackpink will be the first-ever K-Pop group to perform at Coachella, marking it as a huge cultural step forward for not the event, but for all music festivals across the continent.
Many are hopeful that this will inspire a positive change in terms of cultural diversity and progression in the Western world.

Before travelling over to the U.S., Blackpink will conclude its short Asian tour.
Fans around the globe are now expressing their glowing excitement as the group just announced a European tour as well.
Some Canadian followers, however, were a little disappointed that the girls opted to play Hamilton rather than Toronto.
This isn’t the first time a K-Pop group has skipped out on a Toronto performance either. BTS were scolded severely for leaving out Ontario’s capital too, last September.
“Honestly, I was planning to go to a Blackpink show if they came to Toronto,” wrote one user. “But now seeing that they aren’t coming, I’m not going to f**king Hamilton for them to perform nine songs.”
Fortunately for those fans, Hamilton is only a short commute away from the nation’s biggest city.
Others expressed concern about the length of Blackpink’s set, citing that they only have one album’s worth of material.
That one album, however, was released only two months ago. The critically-acclaimed debut, Blackpink in Your Area, dropped on Dec. 5 with nine original tracks. It instantly hit the top album charts in Japan.
