Fire crews in Pitt Meadows dealt with multiple fires on Friday, including a large blaze that killed more than two dozen cattle.
Three buildings on a dairy farm went up in flames around midnight along Old Dewdney Trunk Road.
Fire spread to a barn after initially igniting in a smaller structure that housed calves, killing all but one of them.
Damage from the fire at the dairy farm has yet to be fully tallied, but officials said 25 cattle died in the blaze.
“I think the neighbours discovered the fire, and woke the farmer up,” Pitt Meadows Fire and Rescue Services Asst. Chief Brad Perrie said.

“All the neighbours jumped into action and were helping him out. They were getting the cattle out. Obviously, there came a point where they had to back away as the fire was getting too intense.”
Less than 10 kilometres away an industrial fire broke out in a building just off Ford Detour Road not far from the Pitt Meadows Airport.
Neighbours say the building used to be a nursery, but is now largely a mystery, leaving crews to guess what was inside the structure.
All fires are now largely contained.
Pitt Meadows Mayor Bill Dingwall brought coffee and doughnuts to firefighters, saying he was “proud as heck” of their efforts during what proved to be a long night
