Motorists who use Macleod Trail in the city’s south will come across detours this weekend, as the province moves to demolish the old Highway 22X bridge as part of the new southwest Calgary ring road.

Macleod Trail will be closed at Highway 22X in both directions from 8 p.m. Friday to Monday at 6 a.m., the province said in a news release Thursday.

“Detours will be in place for travellers in the area. Motorists should plan ahead and consider alternate routes, such as Deerfoot Trail or 37 Street S.W. in the southwest,” the province said.
