The 20-year-old joins Valour FC from the RAAL La Louvière of the Belgian Football League’s third division. The keeper also spent two seasons playing in the Belgium Pro League with Waasland Beveren’s reserve team.

“Through our scouting and coaching networks, Mathias is a player who was brought to our attention well over a year ago,” Valour FC Head Coach and General Manager Rob Gale said in a media release.

“He has been involved at the highest levels in Belgium from 16 years of age and has terrific pedigree.

“We are delighted to bring him on board to create great competition for the goalkeeping position.”

Valour FC had previously signed Winnipeg goalkeeper Tyson Farago. Janssens is expected to challenge Farago for the starting job.
