Over the past four weeks, someone sawed the tops off of several different trees at the course.

The park board says the trees offer protection from stray golf balls as well as shade and habitat for birds and other animals.

The trees are unlikely to recover from the damage and will have to be replaced.

Earlier this month, someone also chopped the tops off of eight trees at Spanish Banks.
