Arrest made in Saskatoon’s first homicide of 2019

Saskatoon police have a man in custody as they continue to investigate the city’s first homicide of 2019.

Police were called to a home Tuesday morning on Kootenay Drive, in Lawson Heights, for a report of an injured person.

Officers said a 39-year-old woman was dead at the home when they arrived, but have not said how she died.

Her name is not being released at this time as her family has not yet been notified.

A 37-year-old man at the home was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.

He is scheduled to appear before a justice of the peace within 24 hours.

Police said the accused and victim were known to each other.
