City of Kawartha Lakes OPP put schools in Fenelon Falls under hold and secure on Monday morning following an alleged weapons incident.
Police were called to the community for reports that a man with what appeared to be a handgun had grabbed a young student near the Sobey’s store on Lindsay street.
OPP say as a result of the initial information, officials placed both Langton Public School and Fenelon Falls Secondary School in a hold and secure for precautionary reasons.
Police searched the area, including inside the store. The hold and secure was lifted about an hour later.
“The investigation determined that there was not a safety threat and the hold and secure was promptly lifted,” OPP stated at noontime.
In December, a student was arrested following a weapons call that placed both schools under hold and secure.
