Three more charged in connection to Weyburn’s first homicide in 20 years

Weyburn police have laid new charges in the investigation of the city’s first homicide in 20 years.

Nathan Hutt died from his injuries after he allegedly broke into a home on Jan. 4.

Three women, aged 18 to 21, have been charged with accessory after the fact and obstructing justice, as well as possessing a weapon without a licence.

Police say 18-year-old Hutt was one of three men who entered a residence in the 300-block of 4th Street NE and was shot during an altercation by a man who was home at the time, 23-year-old Keegan Muxlow.

Another man suffered stab wounds, while a third man turned himself into police the next day.

Dominick Hawkes, 23, and William McLeod, 25, both from Weyburn, are facing charges that include break-and-enter and committing assault, wearing a disguise during the commission of an offence and possessing a weapon for the purpose of committing an offence.

Muxlow is also facing multiple charges including second-degree murder. Police say the case for or against self-defence will likely be left up to the courts.

Muxlow is still in custody and is expected to appear via video link on Feb. 5.

The three women charged will appear in Weyburn court on Feb. 26.
