Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service said everyone got out of a house safely following a fire in Elmwood.
Firefighters arrived in the 200 block of Bowman Avenue around 11:35 p.m. Monday evening and found the house engulfed in flames.
Two adults and a child were able to get out on their own before first responders arrived. They were assessed for smoke inhalation at the scene, but didn’t require any treatment at a hospital.
Crews initially battled the flames from inside the home. They were forced out when conditions deteriorated and started a defensive attack.
WFPS deemed the fire under control at 1:04 a.m. Tuesday.
Lanes on Henderson Highway were briefly closed, but have since opened.
The cause of the blaze and how much damage was done is still being determined.
Drivers in the area are asked to be careful as water used during the fire is frozen on the road. City crews are motioning and applying sand when required.
